EC opening for Youth Committee Chair
The Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake (ISGSL) is seeking a dynamic and organized Youth Committee Chair. This is a voluntary position that requires a commitment of approximately 3 hours per week. The Chair will lead the development of programs that empower our youth, fostering a strong Islamic identity while providing practical life skills, weekly tutoring, and academic support.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management: Establish a comprehensive calendar for sports, and Islamic events and academic training.
Academic Support: Oversee weekly tutoring sessions and coordinate resources for college readiness, career guidance, and financial aid.
Mentorship & Scouting: Manage the formation and sustainability of youth groups and scouting programs.
Wellness & Safety: Organize specialized workshops, including self-defense and counseling for navigating Islamophobia.
Team Leadership: Recruit and lead a team of volunteers to execute committee objectives safely and effectively.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Proven background in youth mentorship, education, or community organizing.
Leadership: Strong organizational skills to manage diverse projects ranging from sports to academic tutoring.
Communication: Ability to inspire youth while maintaining professional ties with parents and the Executive Committee (EC).
Values: A deep commitment to Islamic values and a Taqwa-centered approach to mentorship.
Background: Must pass a standard background check for working with minors.
